The move represents a significant departure from the traditional design of Italian stadiums, which typically include an athletics track around the pitch. This design has been criticized for limiting the capacity and atmosphere of the stadium, as well as being impractical for multi-use events.
The new stadium, which is set to be completed in 2023, will have a capacity of 60,000 and will be located in the San Siro district of Milan. It will be the first privately-funded stadium in Italy, and is expected to set a new standard for stadium design and fan experience.
