Chula Vista's 911 emergency call system experienced technical issues for about six hours on Sunday evening, January 1, 2024. The outage began at 4:24 PM PST and affected both National City and Chula Vista's 911 lines.
Troubleshooting and Resolution
The Chula Vista Police Department (CVPD) announced the outage on Sunday night and immediately began troubleshooting the issue. An attorney representing the city of Chula Vista stated that the outage was resolved a little before midnight, based on reports from officers and the individual's actions after officers arrived at the scene.
Full Functionality Restored
National City and Chula Vista's 911 emergency lines are now fully functioning again. Residents are advised to call 911 only for emergencies and to use alternative reporting methods, such as online reporting, if possible.
