Early Life and Career

Tim Walz was born in Redwood Falls, Minnesota, on April 6, 1964. He graduated from Mankato State University in 1989 with a degree in social work. Walz served in the U.S. Army National Guard for 24 years, retiring with the rank of command sergeant major.

Walz was first elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives in 2006. He served in the House until 2014, when he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives. Walz served in Congress from 2015 to 2019, when he was elected Governor of Minnesota.

Tim Walz is a member of the Democratic Party. He is considered a moderate Democrat and has been endorsed by both the Democratic Party and the Independence Party of Minnesota. Walz's political views include support for affordable healthcare, education, and renewable energy.
