A synagogue, also known as a shul or temple, is a place of worship for Jews and Samaritans. It has a place for prayer, the main sanctuary, and sometimes a social hall, a library, and a school. In addition to housing a sanctuary for services, synagogues often serve as the centerpoint of Jewish life.

Synagogue is a Jewish congregation. The house of worship and communal center of a Jewish congregation. A building in which Jewish people worship and study their religion.
